New World Whisky - England Single Malt
Today there are hundreds of distilleries producing whisky in countries without a traditional heritage in the spirit, from England and Wales to Israel and Sweden. These new whisky makers are providing innovation and a whole new world of flavour.
The Cotswolds Distillery opened in 2014 on the outskirts of the eponymous English area of outstanding natural beauty. Surrounded by picturesque barley fields, the distillery produces a super fruity style of whisky, one thats gently kissed with subtle peat notes in its Peated Cask expression. Made using 100% local, floor-malted barley, this no-age-statement single malt is matured in ex-peated quarter casks and bottled at cask strength for a big flavour.
Serving Suggestions: Delicious served neat, but would also make a killer Old Fashioned with muscovado sugar syrup and an orange twist.
Tasting Notes
Notes of honey and butterscotch layered with light fruits (peaches & apricots) and a hint of marzipan. Strong notes of tannin-rich malt, oils and dark sugar with lots of spice, caramelised Seville orange marmalade. Long and resinous, with dark red fruits and a hint of treacle
