Equiano - 70cl

British Premium Rum

Historically rums from the ex-British colonies were the most sought after in the world. Today we are seeing a rise in British companies importing rums from around the world to bring world class spirits to the British public under their own brand name.

A unique rum that claims to be the world’s first blend of rums from Africa and the Caribbean. The British based company transfer rums aged in ex cognac barrels from Mauritius to Barbados, where it is blended with award winning rums from the Foursquare distillery that have been aged in ex bourbon casks. After resting and bottling, the premium rum is then sent to the UK. The rum is named after 18th century abolitionist and author Olaudah Equiano.

Serving Suggestions: Try this rum neat in a warm glass and the oils from a twist of orange. It can also be appreciated in light rum cocktails where it is balanced with citrus and sugar. For a drink with a difference try it in Rum Negroni with a dash of chocolate bitters.

Tasting Notes

Like any quality premium rum, Equiano subtly delivers tropical warmth as soon as its aroma touches your nose. Rich, notes of dried fruits, raisins & sultanas combine with sweet toffee, butterscotch and caramel culminating with a suggestion of orange peel, vanilla and oak. A warm toffee and butterscotch mouth-feel, with chewy raisins and brown sugar flavours that emerge from the liquid as it caresses your tongue. Equiano is a naturally sweet rum with no added sugar or spices, it has a medium to sweet ending with touches of oak, anise, sweet pepper with a hint of bitter orange peel.
